Mme Louise Andrée Holt has a multicultural comity at École Sainte-Anne (ESA), one of the students from this comity, Pascale Lacroix, wanted to create a piece of art that would show the trajectory of some of the students travels from their country to their new home here in Fredericton NB.
Because of Covid, the project was put on hold and Pascale who graduated 2020, was not able to work on her design. However the following year, two students from the same group completed her vision. Thank you to Alice and Katelyn!
ESA have a large population of multicultural students. Some have had a pleasant journey here and others were scared or sad. Some had very complex trajectories here, with many stops along the way and various emotions along this journey. The piece that this group has created shows with 3 different coloured twine the emotion that the student had at various stages of their travel. It show from point: a to b or from: a to b, to c etc….
This is now on the wall of the school in a place where students can all see what others have gone through to make it to this school. It is a gentle reminder of how we are all here with different backgrounds. Some pleasant and others not so much. But in the end most seem happy to be in their new locations.
