Mme Angèle Doucet Leger’s grade 2 class at École des Bâtisseurs, worked on an Art Smart project with me. They felt there was a need for French greeting cards in this city, so they took it upon themselves to create some cards to fill this need.
Mme Angèle and I discussed certain themes with the students before starting sketches and then finalizing their images for the cards. They worked on themes such as: Friendship, Birthday, Congratulation, and Thank you. I helped the students learn to draw their chosen images and then I took those images and prepared these on what will be the printed cards. In the back of the card the student signed their names and I added the school logo and name of the project. For a professional completed look.
Each student completed 5 different cards, therefore the total cards completed with this class is a nice variety of 80 different greeting cards! Some of these cards have a message inside, which is handwritten by the student, others are blank. Once the card has been completed it is printed on card stock and sold with an envelope of the same 5.5×8.5 size.
Cards are on sale at the Café Cé d’ici in Fredericton NB between the 1st to 25th of June 2021. $3 per card or 10 cards of your choice for $25.
Because of Covid restrictions, the project started out via videos from me to the class on YouTube. As things got safer I could go to the class with a mask to work with the students in their classroom. Here are the YouTubes that I did for that first part of their lessons for this project. This is followed by various photos we took throughout the time we spent together.
